General VPN Questions
What is a VPN?
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is simply a group of computers networked together over a larger network. This allows users to perform a number of functions, and the important one is that it secures and encrypts all your communications.
What is a bittorrent?
Bittorrent is a peer-to-peer downloading protocol that allows users to download parts of file from many different people. This allows for large, fast file transfers.
Why do I need a VPN when I use bittorrent?
While bittorrents are an efficient method of downloading all sorts of data it leaves security risks as your computers virtual fingerprint, or IP address, is shared with every 'peer' you download from and upload to. When using a VPN your computers virtual fingerprint is hidden and the fingerprint of the VPN is shared instead, keeping your activities private, secure, and anonymous.
